What is Green Light Laser?

Green Light Laser therapy is a minimally invasive surgical treatment to treat Benign Prostate Hyperplasia, which combines the Prostate Transurethral Resection’s effectiveness (the typical procedure) with less side effects.

Laser energy is used to remove overgrown prostate tissue which results in an open duct where urine can go through. This treatment offers a definite solution for BPH patients.

Prostatic Benign Hyperplasia
The Prostatic Benign Hyperplasia is a condition which affects the prostatic gland in men. As men age, the prostatic gland slowly grows without being the cause cancer nor an infection. When the prostate grows, it can make pressure to the urethra and causes the urinary flow to become slower and less strong. Prostatic Benign Hyperplasia affects 50% of men older than 50 years.

Symptoms:
Most symptoms related to PBH start gradually, here are some possible ones:

  • the need to go wake up consecutively at night in order to urinate
  • the need to urinate many times during the day
  • difficulty to start the urine flow
  • Sensation of not stopping to urinate
  • Droping after finishing to urinate
  • the size and strength of the urine stream may diminish

Candidates

Candidates for this procedure are all those patients who suffer from Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia.

Procedure

Twenty four hours after the procedure, several patients recover from symptoms and have an impressive recovery in their urinary flow. Most of the patients go back to their homes a few hours after the procedure has been done. After a few days, they can go back to their normal activities.

Out of the existent treatments for BPH, Green Laser is chosen by most patients and at the same time is one of the best options for patients with an overgrown prostate. More than 250,000 patients have been treated with Green Laser. The safety and effectiveness offered by Green Laser has been published in over 100 clinical articles and in an even greater number of abstracts.
